.NEXT Chicago, first morning

Right now, we are in the vacuum between the morning sessions and the first keynote of the event. With 5000 attendees, .NEXT is a real big event again. I am always surprised that it is possible to make it possible to have 5000 people a lunch in a conference center. But as I look around, it was a success again.

What did the first two sessions bring me?

First session was about changing your mindset when introducing a new infrastructure. It is not just about changing the infrastructure, but make sure you deliver already additional advantages to the infrastructure. It was about changing your mindset as well as looking for a way to deliver continuous improvement for the infrastructure. Make sure you don’t just replace, but make sure you add extra value to the infrastructure. That way the new infrastructure is future ready. If possible, try to automate the deployment of the clusters itself, as the deployment of virtual machines as well.

Second session I attended was about the unified control plane. This was a pleasant meeting, where a direct link was created between VCF and the Nutanix solution. The message was that the Nutanix system architecture is future proof and that all other competitors need to change their architecture to get the ability to be future proof and ready to improve faster.
Of course, this is a Nutanix event, and I am curious what the message is on a Broadcom conference. However, it was fun to listen to Rob and Kostadis.

This session was summarized in an infographic how to recover from a failure. With Nutanix this would be fairly simple. On a Broadcom VCF environment, it is almost impossible without impact on the infrastructure.

Well, after a lunch, we are preparing for the opening keynote. Several announcements will be made there. Looking forward to it.
